A boy, walking in the blue light of the moon.
Straight hair down to his shoulders, moving in the wind.
Tall and slender.
A beautiful face.
The solitary stillness of someone exceptionally gifted.
A vast meadow, stretching as far as the eye can see.
Flowers of many colours.
A soft wind rushing through now and then.
The grass swaying.
A great wave rolling across the meadow.
Everything losing a little of its colour in the blue light.
Shooting stars, blazing with light.
Hurtling down from high in the sky.
A flash.
The sound of something hard and transparent shattering against the ground.
Fragments racing across the earth.
Rolling, bouncing, spreading.
Then disappearing.
One shooting star, flying straight into the boy’s hands.
The boy catches it in his small hands.
A clear, high ringing sound.
A little way off, a girl watches the boy.
The star and the boy talking for a while.
The star resting in his hands.
The boy suddenly lifts them to his mouth.
He swallows the star.
The boy crouch over a little in pain.
A red flame appearing from his chest.
He holds it quietly in both hands.
Gazing gently at the flame.
The flame gazing back at him.
The girl’s eyes widen.
With urge to do something.
But the ground beneath her beginning to give way.
Splitting open.
She falls into a deep void.
She has no time left.
She cries something out to him.
\
The boy and the flame hear something in the distance.
They turn towards the sound.
They cannot see her.
They can no longer hear her.
The boy turns his gaze forward.
Slowly begins to walk.
A small flame.
Burning quietly in his palm.
